Text: This hurt takes your Mama places Jesus won’t go.

I watched a crime drama and one of the characters made me think of the line, “This hurt takes your Mama places Jesus won’t go”.

From there, I did a lot of research to find inspiration that could capture the angst and hopeless of those words and I did – in Basquiat.

With his chaos and internal conflict, he was the perfect muse. I love his story and loved doing this painting because it allowed me to indulge safely in the madness.
